The best time watering time is morning, as the
day warms any excess moisture on the foliage will dry off
reducing risk of disease and problems with your plants.
Watering at night causes the foliage to stay
wet all night increasing the risk of disease. Uusually there
is less wind in the mornings, so if using an irrigation system
the wastage from over spray is reduced. |

This is mostly a personal thing however, there
are a few tips to follow. If you have large overhanging trees
that drop bark, twigs and leaves use a mulch that these things
will not show up like fine bark, leaf mulch, euchi-mulch or
wood chip.
If you use pebbles they will always need to
be cleaned or will look untidy. Why make extra work for yourself? |
Mulching saves water, and saves time due to reduced watering
time. Mulching also keeps the plant roots cooler therefore
reducing stress.
It helps to suppress weeds from growing in and around your
plants and competing with your plants for water and nutrients.

First measure the length & width of the
area to be covered in metres. Now decide how thick you need
the mulch. If using fine bark or Euchi-Mulch about 3 - 4
cm (.03 0r .04m) is usually enough.
Some of the larger pebbles will require more
5 - 10 cm (.05 - .10m) as they don't pack down as well.
Now simply multiply all these together and
the answer will be in cubic metres.
